Drag queens in the early 1970’s in Boston
were totally alienated from both the homosexual and heterosexual communities, and lived the real underground existence.
I lived with them for a few years, and I wanted to be a queen. I love queens, because they are the

Perla is a terrifically
complex alter-self of the artist, who exists only through paper. This series is a sketchbook documentary
of her emotional expressions, highlighting a diversity shared by all mankind.
